Tree house in Munnar Nature Zone

Day 1 - Arrival at Kochi Airport and Transfer to Munnar - [4 hours]

On arrival at Kochi airport, you would  be received at the airport and drive to Munnar, the tea county of central Kerala and one of the most highest points in southern India. Even before you reach Munnar, you start to see sprawling tea plantations on both sides of the road. The wether also become cooler making it a beautiful paradise of South India.
 

On route to Munnar, visit the Cheeyappara waterfalls, the Valara Waterfalls and the tea plantations. On arrival you will be dropped at a point in Munnar town centre where you will hop on a Jeep to drive up to a higher elevation on a 4 X 4 Jeep, the Jeep will take you to the Tree house Resort in Munnar, overlooking the vast valley. Check in to the tree house resort in Munnar for an overnight stay - A candle light dinner is organised today.

Day 2 - In Munnar - Soft trek - Eravikulam National Park

In the morning go for a short trek to a viewpoint overlooking a beautiful valley where you can see afar if the clouds and the weather permit. The weather would be super cool and the ambiance would be amazing. Check out from the Tree house resort in Munnar and drive down hill to Munnar.

Visit the Eravikulam National Park, where you get to see the highest mountain peak in South India - The Anamudi (2695 metres) followed by the Nilgiri Tahr mountain goat, an endangered species preserved at the Eravikulam National Park. Proceed to the resort of stay, and you have rest of your day at leisure at the resort of stay. Overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 3 - Visits in and around Munnar

After breakfast, visit the Lockhart tea factory, one of the tea factories in Munnar that still follows the orthodox tea processing method. This will be a guided tour, later return to the town centre for lunch, and then proceed to top station which is again a elevation from where processed tea was shipped down the valley to the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu using ropeways. The tea was then carried in bullock carts to Bodi from there by train to Tuticorin port, eventually shipped to the UK. Enroute top station there are interesting places of visit like the Mattupetty dam and Echo point. By evening return back to the resort of stay. Rest of the day at leisure with activities at the resort.

Day 4 - Drive to the cardamom hills of Thekkady [3 hours]

Thekkady is known for two things, one is the cardamom plantations and then the Periyar National Park. Cardamom needs a lot of shade and requires a temperature of around 20 to 23 degree celsius to flower. You can see numerous cardamom plantations on both sides of the road even before you reach Thekkady. On arrival at Thekkady proceed for a spice garden tour where you get to know and understand various varieties of spices that we use daily. 

By afternoon, drive to the shuttle bus service point of Periyar National Park to go inside the national park in their bus. On arrival hop on a large safari boat where the boat takes you deep into the reservoir where you can spot wild beings of the forest on the banks of the reservoir. The boat ride will be of one and a half hour after which you will proceed to the resort of stay in Thekkady.

Day 5 - Drive to the backwater of Alleppey [4 hours]

After breakfast drive down to Alleppey, often referred to as the Venice of the east and she is beautiful with her lagoons, canals and the backwaters. A serene destination on the shores of the arabian sea where every household has a boat and everybody resides on the backwater banks. On arrival at Alleppey board a Shikara boat and cruise along these narrow canals to explore and see around the backwater life and lifestyle. The smaller boats allow you to do to the remote place through narrow canals, these places are interesting and so is the boat ride. 

After the boat ride proceed to the lighthouse beach at Alleppey and further drive to the backwater resort for overnight stay

Day 6 - Drive to the Kochi, later departure [2 hours]

After breakfast, check out from the backwater resort and drive to Kochi - The Queen of the Arabian sea. After lunch, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Fort Kochi and Mattanchery, visit the St Francis Church, the Jew town, the chinese fishing nets and the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry. 

Further drive to the airport or railway station to board flight or train to the onward destination with beautiful memoirs of five nights and six days of Kerala honeymoon program by Green Earth Trails.
