Tour of Muziris | Full day Guided Sightseeing Tour

Muchiripattanam is the name of a prosperous port located, thirty kilometers North of modern day Cochin. The port has been in existence since the first century and had strong trade relations with the Romans, Greek, Arabs and the Chinese. The great floods on the River Periyar in the fourteenth century led to the destruction of the entire port and merged itself into the river silt. The government of Kerala invested in a preserving certain monuments of the colonial era and named the project after this port town. It is called the Muziris Heritage Project.

 

The tour of Muchiripattan is about a tour to the historic Chendamangalam Synagogue, the Palace built by the Dutch to Paliath Achen, the prime minister of the Kochi Maharaja, A church believed to be built by St. Thomas, the Apostle of Christ, The Cherai beach and Munambam Harbour and finally the St. Thomas Shrine at Azhikode and the first mosque in India at Kodungallur. The lunch break would be at Cherai Beach.
